Freelance Journalism
Donna Russell is available for freelance journalism projects, including writing, editing, photography, technical writing and website content.
With years experience in journalism, sub-editing, proofreading and photography, I can handle any project, large or small.
Check out examples of my writing on Donna's blog where you will find posts of articles and photographs that have been published in my newspaper columns.
I have been a journalist since 1981, with experience in a wide range of fields.
I have worked in daily newspapers, with experience in daily news reporting, feature writing, sub-editing and proof reading.
I have also worked for magazines and specialist publications, including as editor of The Builder newspaper in Western Australia and as a sub-editor on Building magazine in London, England. There I also received training in advanced sub-editing.
I have worked as an agricultural journalist, including daily news and monthly rural publications, as well as freelance work for rural magazines.
For the past 10 years I have written a weekly gardening column for the Northern Advocate newspaper in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand, which is usually a two-page broadsheet spread with my own photos.
And reflecting another interest, I also write a weekly newspaper column on computers and the Internet. This column has been running in the Advocate for about the past eight years.
I am often called on to write press releases, articles, specialist brochures, pamphlets. posters and booklets for various organisations.
I have often filled in for other editors of weekly newspapers while they are away on holiday.
Contact me if you need any writing help or advice.
